Difficulties associated with adjusting to puberty are minimized if adolescents know what changes to expect. Through group work with their peers, the teen experience can be a smooth and enjoyable transition into adulthood. That said, moving through adolescence feels like chaos (for parents and teens) - with exciting moments filled with first loves, new interests, and lots of enticing drama to deep depression, anxiety, angst in regards to social pressures and constant identity shifts.
My passion working with teens started when I was a teenager and experienced the power of a supportive and informative adolescent group. When I turned 17, I started running my own teen groups and continued running groups at different capacities through today. Adolescents have a special knack for being bold, straight-forward, and raw with their emotions and energy. It is this authenticity that draws me towards my continued work with adolescents.
Some families choose to make therapy a confidential space for their young person alone, some choose to work collaboratively as a family, and some choose to do both. Feel free to schedule a free 15 minute consultation to determine what setup would work best for you.
